Beautiful skin is something each of us would love to experience and often we believe if we’re not born with flawless skin it’s not possible. Often we just lack the knowledge to achieve that glowing, healthy skin, so here are 5 tips for healthier looking skin.
The Golden Rule
It doesn’t matter how late you go to bed it’s important to always remove your makeup and allow your skin to breathe overnight. Neglecting to take the time allows the makeup to clog your pores and blemishes and/or blackheads could be the result. Even if you don’t have makeup remover a little olive oil on a cotton pad will do the job. Exfoliating your skin at least once or twice a week is another good habit for removing the layers of dead skin leaving you with a nice, healthy glow.
Sun & Skin
When it comes to sun exposure a lifetime of being outdoors can cause wrinkles, age spots and other skin problems. Always apply sunscreen with an SPF of at least 15 that blocks both UVB and UVA harmful rays. Even on cloudy, cold days your skin is at risk with the reflective surfaces of ice and snow it’s advisable to apply a sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30.
You Are What You Eat
We all know a healthy diet is important for staying healthy and your skin will benefit from a balanced diet rich in Vitamin C and low in fats and sugar. The best advice is to stay away from spicy, fermented foods, salt, citrus fruits and skip the fried foods.
Regular exercise, running, jogging or yoga gives your body the blood circulation it needs and speeds up the cleansing process of your entire body. The bonus is the nice glow your skin has after working out. If you find you’re pressed for time even a brisk walk around the block is better than nothing. Applying a toner before exercise will help with oil production followed by exfoliating and a moisturizer like shea butter or olive oil.
Aim for at least 8 hours every night to prevent your skin from looking tired and sagging you skin needs rest too. Honey applied to your face 2 or 3 times a week is a good tip for naturally smooth, healthy looking skin. In the morning be sure to moisturize and avoid using water that’s too hot which tends to dry out the skin.
